Cairo- the great pyramids

The pyramids of Giza

(Day 2: We begin today with our morning flight from Cairo to Luxor and from the airport we start the tour right away.

1st. Day
Luxor – today we concentrate on the 2 most famous and impressive temple complexes, Luxor and Karnak Temple. We discover the spectacular temple complex dedicated to the Theban God triad – Amun, Mut and Khonsu. Then We visit the remains of the avenue of sphinxes which originally connect the temple of Luxor to the temple of Karnak and we don’t leave Luxor without fist visiting the ruins of Karnak. Here the temple complex is overwhelmingly huge in all dimensions. It’s the second most popular site in Egypt after the pyramids of Giza. The utter vastness and its enormous structures, make it unique in the ancient world. On the Nile River we sail on a Felucca, the traditional Egyptian sailing boat. Following this, and if time allows, we stroll over the colorful market of Luxor (we can enjoy the market also on the next day. Night in a nice 4* hotel.

Recommendation for the afternoon:

Recommendation for the evening:

Visit the authentic market right next to the hotel.

Day 3:
2nd day Luxor: On the opposite banks of the Nile we visit the Valley of the Kings where Egypt’s Pharaohs and royalty were entombed, we explore at least one of the major tombs that are open to the public (various tombs are opened at the discretion of the authorities, depending on ongoing excavations) We visit the Mortuary Temple Complex of Hatshepsut. We visit the mortuary temple of Ramasses the Third at Medinet Habu. Night in the same hotel or, again depending on flights available, we will fly out of Luxor to spend the night in a 4* hotel in Cairo. Or return by night train.

Day 4:
We begin today exploring the treasures of the world-renowned Egyptian museum. Here we can see many of the priceless treasures retrieved from the Pharaohs tombs, including the treasures of Tutankhamun. Following this we continue to the Khan Al Khalili, Cairo’s famous bazaar. If time allows, we visit the famous Muhammad Ali Mosque and the Coptic churches.

Our recommendations for additional sites:

  • The new Egyptian museum- $29
  • Sakkara and Memphis- $20
  • Mummy chamber $25
  • entering the big Pyramid inside 25$.

Late afternoon we start our long ride back to the border. Usually, we return around midnight.
We assist you on the Egyptian side of the border but you will cross independently on the Israeli side.  Taxies are usually available at the exit of the crossing. If not, please ask one of the security guards at the border to call a taxi for you. They will assist you with this.
You will need a night in a hotel either Eilat or on the Red Sea at the end of your tour.

We recommend spending the night in a resort on the Red Sea near Taba instead of spending the night in Eilat. Prices are usually lower than in Eilat and you will not have to cross the border in the middle of the night after a very long ride from Cairo.
