Petra and Wadi Rum Tour in Jordan

‘In my case it was love at first sight. This desert, all deserts, any desert.’
The Journey Home – 1977 Edward Abbey.

All options for Petra and Wadi Rum tour from Israel or Jordan. 1,  1.5 or 2 day tours from Eilat. Optional adding a night in Wadi Rum

Promotion price for the coming month – 1 day Petra tour from Eilat: $245 p.p instead of $259!

Two Day Petra & Wadi Rum tour from Eilat, Tel Aviv or Jerusalem:
recommended: add a second night and save the visa costs as well

(available as group or private tour)

Our most popular Jordan tour remains this two day Petra and Wadi Rum Tour, it covers both Petra and Wadi Rum in greater depth than shorter tours. It has long been considered the very best option for a high quality Petra tour and authentic Wadi Rum desert experience.

First Day – We begin our tour with Petra. Departing Eilat early morning we cross into Jordan and make a short round through Aqaba, the Jordanian resort town on the Red Sea. Guests who spent their night here join our tour now. Then we head straight to the ancient city of Petra. The tour takes in the most popular highlights of Petra beginning with the Treasury and the Siq Canyon and heading right through the main center of the site. After lunch in Petra we have some free-time. Time allowing you may choose to take an optional hike up to The Monastery on Jabel A-Deir, or the High Place of Sacrifice, but prior notice is required for these options. Following the tour, we meet you at our nearby offices to drive you to your hotel near Petra, or to a Bedouin camp in the desert. Other accommodation options are available below.
You also have the option, for a supplement, of ascending to the summit of Aaron’s Mountain to the shrine of Aarons Tomb (also called Jabal Haroun) we board a local Bedouin 4×4 pick-up for the off-road drive to Mount Aaron. We leave the vehicle where the jeep trail ends and begin the half hour ascent to its summit on foot. On the mountain peak we find Aarons shrine and enjoy the astonishing panoramic views from the mountain’s summit.

Climbing to the Monastery (For all overnight tours):
Our tour guide accompanies the group for four hours which enough time to cover a lot of ground and information about the site. Before he departs, he joins the group for lunch at a nearby restaurant, close to the path to the Monastery. The ascent to the monastery is done indecently after lunch and our vehicle meets the guests at the exit of Petra. Guides may be booked for the walk to the monastery for an additional $50, but since the route is straightforward there is little point in using a tour guide for this section.
Lunch is taken inside Petra, there is a choice of 2 restaurants inside Petra only. The main restaurant which is included in the tour price is basic and offers a buffet of local food, salads and serves grilled meat. The more expensive alternative available for an additional $24 serves both local and western food (of a fashion) and is much cleaner and better presented, we do recommend you to choose this option.

Day 2 – This day covers the highlights of Wadi Rum. Having arrived at the village of Rum inside the nature reserve, we board 4X4 jeeps, driven by professional Bedouin drivers and journey to the sandstone area of Wadi Rum. This protected area of red sands, towering rock formations, and wide-open silence is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful desert scenery in the world. Here we go off-road into its unique landscape and get right off the beaten track to explore rarely travelled ancient merchant routes. The enchanting Wadi Rum is an area almost surreal in its distinctive beauty. We cross red sand dunes and explore the beautifully eroded pillars of sandstone rock. It was this area of Wadi Rum that so inspired T E Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia). Wadi Rums beauty remains intact and its breathtaking scenery is still an inspiration for those who travel there. Lunch is enjoyed on route in the great outdoors. The tour includes the Seven Pillars, Khaz Ali canyon and Jabel Um Asharim. Returning by evening to Eilat.

Optional extra night in Rum– Guests wishing to spend an additional night in Wadi Rum at the end of the tour choose among a regular Wadi Rum camp, 4* camp or a luxury one. We collect the following morning for the return drive to Eilat.

Price on the group tour: 1 person (joining existing tour) –$595, 2 people – $550 per person, 3 people $530 per person, 4 people and over $519 each. / Children under 12: $50 less
